I recently posted the below tweet on my Twitter about Empowering Women and not giving sympathy to my colleagues. I am sure you all are across the movement that is happening around the world where women are standing up for themselves and for each-other. I love that women now a days do not take any bullshit and fight for their rights. I also love that there are many men, who help & support such amazing & talented women.

My lovely friend Ophelie replied to my post. It is amazing see so many powerful, strong and intelligent women supporting each-other. I was chatting with my another friend few days back about feminism and she told me this,

“I don’t believe in feminism and if someone is not promoting you because you are a female even though you are worthy, then you are working for shit company & people.”

Some of you might feel offended about my friend’s thinking. I know a lot of women who are affected by small issues that happen around the world. I agree with them in saying it out loud. I liked that my friend has her own fearless opinion. She made me think that, we sometimes fight for the wrong reasons, situations and incidents.

I also acknowledge that everyone has different ideas about feminism. I thought that I would write about my views on this. I believe in fighting for your right, as a professional, daughter, wife or woman. I come from a background where I have seen enough of the bigger issues happening around the world, from a girl’s birth to her safety to her existence. I have seen people celebrating when a boy is born and mourning when a girl is born. I have seen someone’s daughter being killed because parents couldn’t give enough dowry. I have seen girls getting raped by men because she had worn jeans and she was showing her curves. You will be surprised to know that even developed countries are in the top 10 list.

Some might argue that the above issues are too big. We are fighting to make small changes in our day-to-day lives. Fair. Let’s talk about the issues women face in their day-to-day lives. I have seen women not allowed to work because they have to take care of kids, or old parents. I have seen women who are working going through lot of social and mental pressure by their family and partner because sometimes they have to work late hours. I have seen husbands treating them like slaves even though she might be the bread-winner of the house. I have seen women molested or physically abused in workspaces. I have seen the level of politics in a company that prevent them from growing in the industry.

Nowadays we fight over someone giving us compliments, or someone telling us to do something which we feel we deserve way more than what they are asking us. We fight for every statement someone has made. It is awesome to let the person know if something you felt is not right. Fighting and wasting your energy over that might not be the best idea. We can’t even tolerate women having different opinions about these things. I personally believe in fighting for the issues related to basic human rights as a female.

You shouldn’t have to care about a feminist to be one. — brockport.com article

I would love to stand by those women who are facing domestic violence, rape, physical abuse, indecent behaviour at their workplace and not receiving what they deserve. I would love to empower these women to fight for these issues. I would love to support them, financially and mentally to come out out on top of these issues. I am not against any women nor am I saying they are wrong. All I am trying to say is spend your energy in fighting for the right things, which affects not just you but every woman in this world.

Feminism isn’t about making women stronger. Women are already strong. It’s about changing the way the world perceives that strength. — G. D. Anderson

This is a great video if you would like to watch!!

Disclaimer : I am not against any women or their beliefs. I am just putting forward my point of view. If you disagree to what I am saying here, feel free to put forward your views. I would love to hear what you have to say.
